Cho Sun-young is the Chairperson of Kwangwoon Academy, the educational foundation of Kwangwoon University.
She was born in 1978 as the eldest daughter of former Kwangwoon Academy Chairperson Cho Moo-sung.
She graduated from Crossroads High School in the United States and Carnegie Mellon University. She received her master’s degree in economic policy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and completed a doctoral program in organizational theory at Yonsei University Graduate School of Business.
She worked at the Yonsei University Management Research Institute and later as a consultant at KPMG.
She then moved to Kwangwoon Academy as Director of Policy before succeeding her father Cho Moo-sung in 2018 to become Chairperson.
Ahead of the academy’s 100th anniversary, she is focusing on nurturing talent with expertise in convergent artificial intelligence and promoting cooperation among regional universities in advanced academic fields.
