He is the third-generation owner in the SK Group and the first among them to be promoted to president.

He was born on October 14, 1981, as the grandson of the late Choi Jong-kun, founder and former chairman of SK Group, and the son of Choi Shin-won, former chairman of SK Networks.

He graduated from Hanyoung Foreign Language High School and majored in Chinese Language and Literature at Fudan University in China. He completed an MBA program at London Business School in the United Kingdom.

He joined SKC’s Strategic Planning Team and worked in the Human Resources Team before being promoted to an executive position at SKC’s Corporate Culture Division. He later moved to SK Inc., where he served as Head of Business Support and Head of the Global Business Development Office.

He served as Head of the Strategic Planning Office at SK Networks, while also holding positions as an executive at SK Inc.’s BM Innovation Office and as Group Head of SK Inc.’s Happiness Design Center.

After serving as Head of Business at SK Networks, he was promoted to president in 2022. In 2023, he was appointed as an internal director.

He is a cousin once removed of SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, SK Vice Chairman Choi Jae-won, and Choi Ki-won, Chairman of the SK Happiness Foundation. Choi Chang-won, Chairman of the SK SUPEX Council and Vice Chairman and CEO of SK Discovery, is his uncle.

He is focusing on transforming SK Networks, which has traditionally centered on textiles and general trading, into an “AI-centered business-oriented investment company.”
