Gong Kyung-chul is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Angel Robotics. He is also the founder of the company and currently serves as Chairman of the Board.
He aims to make Angel Robotics the global standard in the wearable robotics industry.
Born on September 22, 1981, Gong earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Sogang University and went on to complete his master's degree in the same field at the university’s graduate school.
He then moved to the United States, where he obtained a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. After returning to Korea, he was appointed as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sogang University.
In 2017, he founded SG Robotics, the predecessor of Angel Robotics.
Since 2024, the company has adopted a professional management system. Gong stepped down from the CEO position to focus on technology development as the CTO and Chairman of the Board.
He gained international attention for developing the WalkON Suit F1, a humanoid-wearable robot designed to autonomously approach and dock with users, with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities.
He is also a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
