Life Summary
Ha Joon-kyung serves as Senior Secretary for Economic Growth in the Office of the President, led by President Lee Jae-myung.

He was born in 1969 in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.

He graduated from Seoul Joongang High School and the Department of Economics at Seoul National University. He earned his master’s degree in economics from the graduate school of Seoul National University and received a Ph.D. in economics from Brown University in the United States.

He began his career in 1993 by joining the Bank of Korea. In 2000, he was sent to Brown University as a Teaching Fellow and returned to Korea in 2003 to serve as a manager at the Institute for Monetary and Economic Research.

In 2005, he gained recognition as a research fellow at the Korea Institute of Finance. In 2008, he was appointed professor of Economics at Hanyang University's ERICA Campus.

In 2019, during the Moon Jae-in administration, he served on the Macroeconomics Subcommittee of the Presidential National Economic Advisory Council. In 2021, he joined Lee Jae-myung’s presidential campaign as head of the Economic Policy Division at the think tank Policies to Change the World (Sebajeong). Later, he chaired the Strategic Committee for Transformative Fair Growth under the 20th Presidential Election Central Campaign Committee.

In June 2025, he was appointed Senior Secretary to the President for Economic Growth in the Lee Jae-myung administration.

He is considered the chief architect of President Lee’s economic growth strategy and is recognized in academic circles as a centrist mainstream economist.
