Hwang Byung-woo is chairman and CEO of iM Financial Group.

He was born in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province, on April 27, 1967.

He graduated from Seonggwang High School in Daegu and Kyungpook National University with a degree in economics. He earned master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Kyungpook National University.

He worked as a researcher at Daegu Bank's Financial Economy Research Institute. He served as head of the DGB Management Consulting Center, head of the Corporate Management Consulting Center and manager of the Bonri-dong Branch.

He moved to DGB Financial Group, where he served as head of the Secretariat and the Management Support Office and as head of Group Future Planning before serving as head of Group Sustainability Management and head of the ESG Strategy Management Research Institute.

He became president of Daegu Bank in 2023 and was appointed chairman of DGB Financial Group in 2024, concurrently holding both positions.

He stepped down as president of iM Bank, formerly Daegu Bank, in 2026 and has since focused on serving as chairman of iM Financial Group.

After leading iM Bank's conversion to a commercial bank, he is working to transform iM Financial Group into a nationwide financial group.

He values communication and responds quickly to change, including identifying new businesses.
