Jin Ok-dong is the Chairman and CEO of Shinhan Financial Group.

He has been strengthening Shinhan’s position as a leading Korean financial holding company by pursuing management efficiency alongside digital transformation and global expansion.

He was born on February 21, 1961, in Imsil, North Jeolla Province.

He graduated from Deoksu Commercial High School in Seoul and earned a degree in Business Administration from Korea National Open University. He also completed an MBA program at Chung-Ang University Graduate School.

Jin began his career at the Industrial Bank of Korea before moving to Shinhan Bank, where he served as Deputy Head of the Credit Review Department and Team Leader in the Treasury Department.

During his time as Branch Manager in Osaka, Japan, he played a key role in launching Shinhan Bank's Japanese subsidiary, SBJ Bank. He later served as Executive Vice President and then President and CEO of SBJ Bank.

He went on to become Executive Vice President in charge of the Management Support Group at Shinhan Bank and later Executive Vice President for Operations at Shinhan Financial Group. In 2018, he was appointed CEO of Shinhan Bank and was reappointed for a second term.

In 2023, he was named Chairman and CEO of Shinhan Financial Group.

Now in his third year in the role, he faces the challenge of boosting the performance of non-banking affiliates to reclaim Shinhan’s leadership in the financial sector.

He also serves as Chairman of the Financial Industry Committee at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Jin is known for his warm and approachable personality. He values horizontal communication and leads by example.
