Life Summary
Jung Chung-rai is the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.

He is working to support the stable management of state affairs by the Lee Jae-myung administration after winning a landslide victory in the June 3 local elections. He is also interested in reform legislation.

He was born in 1965 in Geumsan, South Chungcheong Province.

He graduated from Bomoon High School in Daejeon and the Department of Industrial Engineering at Konkuk University. He also graduated from the Department of North Korean Unification Policy at Sogang University’s Graduate School of Public Policy.

He entered politics as a member of the preparatory committee for the online political party “Jeongjeong Dangdang.”

In the 2004 general election, he ran in the Seoul Mapo B constituency as a candidate of the Uri Party and was elected, beginning his career as a four-term lawmaker.

He served as a supreme council member of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy and later served twice as a supreme council member of the Democratic Party of Korea. In the National Assembly, he served as chairman of the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee and the Legislation and Judiciary Committee.

In 2025, he was elected leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.
