He served as head of the general situation room at the Central Election Campaign Committee for the 21st presidential election, and in June 2025, he was appointed Presidential Chief of Staff to President Lee Jae-myung.

He is responding quickly to global affairs, including the U.S.-Iran war and Canadian defense issues, in his capacity as a special envoy.
