Life Summary
Kim Dong-seon is vice president and head of future vision at Hanwha Galleria. He holds the same role at Hanwha Hotels & Resorts, Hanwha Vision and Ourhome.

Ahead of the launch of a new tech and life holding company being promoted by Hanwha Group, he is expanding his role to cover retail, hotels, food and beverage, robotics and tech affiliates.

He was born on May 30, 1989, as the youngest of the three sons of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn.

He graduated from The Taft School in the United States and Dartmouth College with a degree in political science.

He joined Hanwha Engineering & Construction and worked in the overseas civil engineering business division and the new growth strategy team. He ran a restaurant in Germany and briefly worked at Skylake Investment.

He returned to Hanwha Group as head of global strategy at Hanwha Energy and later served as head of the premium leisure group at Hanwha Hotels & Resorts and head of the new business strategy office at Hanwha Solutions’ Galleria division.

He served as head of the strategy division at Hanwha Solutions’ Galleria division and was promoted to vice president.

He increased his presence in the restaurant business by leading the introduction of the hamburger franchise Five Guys in Korea.

He served as head of overseas business at Hanwha’s construction division and oversaw overseas projects, including the Bismayah New City construction project in Iraq. He has since been focusing on management of the new tech and life holding company.

As a former athlete, he is regarded as having a strong global network and good people skills.

However, the fact that he was put on trial in the past over several controversies, including abusive language and assault during drinking occasions, remains a burden on his leadership.
