He is driving business expansion with the goal of positioning the company among the world’s top 10 outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) providers by 2025 and reaching KRW 1 trillion (US$ 719 million) in annual backend revenue by 2027.
Born on February 20, 1967, he graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and went on to earn both his master’s and doctoral degrees in the same field at the university’s graduate school.
He began his career at Samsung Electronics in 1996 as a senior researcher. He later moved to SK hynix, where he served as executive director of the R&D division, before joining LB Semicon as executive vice president in charge of manufacturing and future strategy.
In 2022, he was appointed CEO of LB Semicon.
LB Semicon is a core affiliate of LB Group, sometimes referred to as part of the broader LG family, and maintains roots in the legacy of LG Semiconductor.
LB Group was founded in 2000 when Koo Ja-doo, the fourth son of LG Group founder Koo In-hwoi, established LG Capital Investment (now LB Investment) as an independent company. In 2005, LB Semicon was acquired by Koo Bon-cheol, chairman of LB and LB Investment and the eldest son of Koo Ja-doo.
