Kim Young-shub is the CEO and President of KT.
He is currently under pressure to take responsibility for the KT server hacking incident and the controversy surrounding unqualified executive appointments.
He was born on April 10, 1959, in Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang Province.
He graduated from Gyeongbuk High School and earned a degree in Business Administration from Korea University.
He began his career at Lucky-Goldstar Trading Company (now LX International), where he served as Audit Team Leader, General Affairs Manager, and Head of the Management Department at the U.S. branch.
After working in the Financial Improvement Team at LG’s Restructuring Headquarters, he joined LG CNS as Executive Vice President of the Management Division and Head of the Solution Business Division, later moving to LG Uplus as Chief Financial Officer.
In 2015, he returned to LG CNS as CEO and President.
He was appointed CEO of KT in 2023.
Kim has focused on resolving various instability issues within KT’s telecommunications business while seeking new growth drivers in cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).
He is widely regarded as a financial expert with a deep understanding of the IT field.
