Kim Young-hoon is Minister of Employment and Labor.
He is making all-out efforts to help the Yellow Envelope Act (a partial amendment to the Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act) take root in the workplace and to eliminate industrial accidents.
He was born on January 5, 1968, in Busan.
He graduated from Masan Jungang High School and Dong-A University’s Department of Animal Science. He earned a master’s degree in political science from the NGO Graduate School at Sungkonghoe University.
He worked as a train engineer at Korea Railroad Corporation.
He served as chair of the Democratization Promotion Committee of the Korean Railway Workers’ Union, chair of the Korean Transport Workers’ Union, chair of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, and chair of the Korean Railway Workers’ Union.
He entered politics as head of the Labor Bureau of the Justice Party and ran as a proportional representation candidate for the Justice Party in the 21st general election.
After leaving the Justice Party, he ran as a proportional representation candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea in the 22nd general election.
As a former railway worker, he was appointed as the first labor minister of the Lee Jae-myung administration.
