Koo Ja-kyun is the Chairman and CEO of LS Electric. He also serves as CEO of LS MnM and LS Metal.

He has shown strong interest not only in the power equipment, automation, and metals sectors but also in the smart energy business that integrates energy storage systems (ESS) and energy management systems (EMS).

He was born on October 8, 1957, in Seoul, as the third son of the late Koo Pyung-hoe, Honorary Chairman of E1.

He graduated from Jungang High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in law from Korea University. He later obtained a master’s degree in international business and a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Texas.

He began his career in academia, teaching at the Department of Business Administration at Kookmin University and the Graduate School of International Studies at Korea University, before joining LS Industrial Systems (now LS Electric) as Executive Vice President.

After serving as President of LS Industrial Systems in 2008, he became Chairman and CEO of LS Electric in 2014.

He is widely regarded as a leader who values principles while maintaining a gentle charisma.

Koo has served as Chairman of the Korea Smart Grid Association and the Korea Industrial Technology Association, and he is currently Chairman of the Korea Electrical Manufacturers Association.
