Kweon Jin-hye is the president of Gyeongsang National University.

Marking his first anniversary in office, he presented a vision of placing Gyeongsang National University among the world’s top 100 universities.

He was born on December 6, 1964, in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do.

Kweon earned his bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Seoul National University and obtained both his master’s and doctoral degrees in Aerospace Engineering from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).

He began his career at Samsung Aerospace Research Institute before being appointed as a professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Information Convergence Engineering at Gyeongsang National University.

He went on to serve as Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Aerospace Specialization, Director of the Aircraft Parts Technology Research Institute, and Head of Planning before being elected president of the university in 2024.

As an aerospace expert, Kweon has focused on space, aviation, and defense specialization strategies, leading innovations such as a joint degree program with Seoul National University. Under his leadership, the university received the highest grade in the annual evaluation of the “Glocal University 30” project.

He also serves as president of the Korean Society for Composite Materials.
