Lee was born on January 11, 1941, in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, as the third of three sons and three daughters.
He graduated from Sangji High School and entered Konkuk University's Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, but had to drop out after completing his third year due to financial difficulties at home.
He founded Woojin Construction Industry, which went public but later went bankrupt and closed.
He then founded Samjin Engineering and laid the foundation for success by constructing rental apartments, later changing the company's name to Booyoung.
Booyoung established Booyoung Housing by physically dividing the housing and overseas business divisions. He also founded Booyoung Country Club, a golf course operating company, and Booyoung Environmental Industry. He entered the leisure business by acquiring Muju Deogyusan Resort from Daehan Electric Wire Co., Ltd.
Through the rental housing business, he established a firm position in the construction industry and overcame the financial crisis with stable business operations.
He holds 90-100% shares in key subsidiaries, including the group's holding company Booyoung, securing strong control.
After stepping down as CEO of affiliates due to embezzlement and breach of trust charges, he was reinstated with a special pardon on Liberation Day in 2023 and returned to the management front line.
He pursues stable and substantial management.
