Lyu Jae-cheol is president and CEO of LG Electronics.
He is focusing on robotics, AI data center (AI DC) cooling solutions and mobility as key drivers of future growth, with physical AI at the center.
He was born in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province, on March 15, 1967.
He graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in mechanical engineering and completed an MBA at the University of Illinois in the United States.
He joined GoldStar, the predecessor of LG Electronics, as a washing machine researcher and served as head of the washing machine development team.
He oversaw refrigerator production and the room air conditioner (RAC) business before becoming head of the Living Appliance Business, overseeing home appliances overall.
After serving as head of the Home Appliance & Air Solution (H&A) Company, he was promoted to president of LG Electronics in 2023.
When the H&A Company was reorganized into the Home Appliance Solution (HS) Company, he focused on home appliances following the separation of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning business.
In November 2025, he was appointed CEO, succeeding LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan.
