Life Summary
Park Chang-woo is the CEO of Nano Chemical Materials.

He achieved localization of nanomaterial products, the company’s main business, and has grown it into a global materials enterprise.

He was born on July 9, 1962.

He graduated from the Department of Chemistry at Yonsei University. He earned a master’s degree in chemistry from Michigan State University in the United States and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He worked as a researcher at LG Chem’s Technology Research Institute before being appointed a professor in the Department of Applied Chemical and Biological Engineering at Hanbat National University.

During the Asian financial crisis (IMF period), seeing his students suffer from job shortages, he founded Nano Chemical Materials in February 2000 on campus with the determination to create jobs.

He succeeded in developing indium tin oxide (ITO) powder for cathode-ray tubes, which had previously been entirely imported, and is now generating about KRW 90 billion (US$ 62.6 million) in annual sales.

He is regarded as a representative example of a professor-entrepreneur who has contributed to the industrial sector as a traditional chemist.
