Park Joo-min is the Chairman of the National Assembly’s Health and Welfare Committee.
After announcing his intention to run for Seoul Mayor in the 2026 local elections, he has been focusing on criticizing the poor administration of current Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and developing new policies related to the city. He is also paying close attention to resolving legislative conflicts and pursuing medical reform.
He was born on November 21, 1973, in Seoul. He graduated from Daewon Foreign Language High School, majoring in Chinese, and earned his law degree from Seoul National University.
After passing the bar exam in 2004, he worked as an attorney at law firms Hanchul and Igong. He served as Deputy Secretary-General of Lawyers for a Democratic Society (Minbyun) and acted as a legal representative for the families of the Sewol Ferry disaster victims.
In 2016, Park entered politics by joining the Democratic Party of Korea as a specially recruited talent. He was elected three consecutive times as a member of the 20th, 21st, and 22nd National Assemblies, representing Eunpyeong District A in Seoul.
In 2018, he was elected to the Supreme Council of the Democratic Party. In 2021, as the Democratic Party’s secretary on the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee, he led legislative efforts on prosecutorial reform.
In 2022, as Chairman of the Democratic Party’s “Euljiro Committee” on livelihoods, he actively visited local communities and engaged in public communication. In 2023, he served as the party’s Senior Deputy Floor Leader for Parliamentary Operations.
In June 2024, he was elected Chairman of the Health and Welfare Committee for the first half of the 22nd National Assembly.
