Park Seung-woo is the President of Samsung Medical Center.
He is a leading authority in cardiology, specializing in heart valve diseases and myocardial infarction, and serves as a Professor of Cardiology in the Department of Internal Medicine at Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine.
Born in 1962, he graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine.
He earned his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Medicine from Seoul National University Graduate School.
In 1987, he completed his internship and residency at Seoul National University Hospital and worked as an internist at both Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul National University-affiliated Boramae Medical Center.
He joined Samsung Medical Center at its opening in 1994 and received further training at the Mayo Clinic in the U.S.
He has held roles including Head of Information Strategy Office, Head of QI Office, and Chief Planning Officer before becoming Director in 2011.
He has served as the President of the Korean Society of Echocardiography, Chair of the Smart Health Research Committee of the Korean Society of Cardiology, and Vice President of the Korean Hospital Association.
He implemented an electronic medical record system to achieve a paperless hospital and developed the 'Doctor Smart' app to utilize personal smart devices in clinical practice.
He is praised for innovating hospital processes and laying the foundation for hospital informatization.
