Park Sung-tae is the president of Wonkwang University.

Following the university’s selection for the Glocal University 30 project, he is focusing on the shared growth of the local community and industry as the leader of a major private university in the Jeonbuk region.

He was born on May 30, 1958, as a grandson of Grand Master Sotaesan Park Jung-bin, the founder of Won Buddhism.

He graduated from Namsung High School in Jeonju and the Department of Business Administration at Jeonbuk National University. He earned both a master’s degree and a doctorate in business administration from the graduate school of Jeonbuk National University.

He was appointed as a professor in the Department of Business Administration at Wonkwang University and served as dean of the College of Business Administration and director of the Management Education Institute before becoming president in late 2022.

In academia, he served as president of organizations including the Korean Industrial Economic Association, the Korean Academic Association of Business Administration and the Korean Financial Management Association.

He has served as chairman of the Glocal University Council since 2026.

Following the integrated launch of Wonkwang University and Wonkwang Health Science University, he is concentrating on developing a specialized model that brings medicine, dentistry, Korean medicine and pharmacy together.
