Ryu Hong-lim is the President of Seoul National University.

He was born on December 12, 1961, in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do.
He graduated from Cheongju High School and earned a degree in political science from Seoul National University. He then obtained a master's degree in political science from the graduate school of Seoul National University.
He earned his Ph.D. from Rutgers University in the United States, specializing in Western political thought history and modern political thought.
Since 1995, he has been a professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Seoul National University. He has served as the chief editor of the Seoul National University newspaper, director of the university archives, and dean of the College of Social Sciences before being elected president in 2023.
He has also served as the president of the Korean Association of Political Thought.
He is dedicating efforts to innovating university governance, infrastructure, and operational systems to build a dynamic education and research ecosystem.
