Yoo Ja-eun is the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at Konkuk University.
She was born in 1971 as the eldest daughter of former Chairperson Yoo Il-yoon and former Chairperson Kim Kyung-hee.
She graduated from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Hongik University and completed the MBA program at Yonsei University Graduate School of Business.
In September 2014, she was appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Konkuk University Foundation, and in May 2017, she became its Chairperson.
She also serves concurrently as Chairperson of the Sanghuh Cultural Foundation.
She is the granddaughter of Yoo Suk-chang, the independence activist and founder of Konkuk University, and the granddaughter-in-law of Hong Jong-ryul, the honorary chairman and founder of Korea Steel.
She is a third-generation female owner who succeeded her parents in becoming Chairperson of the university’s board.
She declared the nation’s first ESG management initiative among universities.
Building on Konkuk University’s traditional strength in veterinary medicine, she led the establishment of Korea’s first Veterinary Cancer Center and Asia’s first Companion Animal Blood Donation Center.
As the university approaches its 100th anniversary, she has emphasized educational innovation unique to Konkuk University.
